Today is World Food Day, started 75 years ago by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. As a farming-centred organization we see first-hand every single day, how farmers in our region grow food for the world. We also know the importance of their role in this global supply chain. This year’s theme, in light of the pandemic is: “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our actions are our future.” As farmers, this is what we do every day. Please join with us in recognizing this exceptional moment as countries around the world deal with the widespread effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As Canadians we are very fortunate to have a safe and secure food supply, and farmers are a big part of that. This video produced by the FAO gives a short summary of why this day is so important.
